Summer is here, and it’s time to start thinking about your next getaway. The region of the Georgian Bay offers a multitude of outdoor recreational activities for you to enjoy. You can find some of the best hiking trails in Ontario within twenty minutes of our luxurious Rawley Resort. Experience stunning vista views, rolling rocks of the Canadian Shield, and exciting wildlife. You’ll love hiking these quiet trails and immersing yourself in nature this summer. Without further ado, here are some of our favorite hiking spots near Port Severn.

There are three trails in Six Mile Lake Provincial Park that offer visitors to take in the park’s scenic, natural, and cultural heritage. Take in scenic vistas, wetlands, rolling rocks, indigenous plants, and a variety of wildlife. The trails are short but rugged, so put on your hiking boots and drive 15 minutes from Rawley Resort to explore these trails.

Make the 20-minute drive to Beausoleil Island and take a ferry the rest of the way for some of the best hiking trails in Ontario. The trails on the Northern part of the island showcase the beautiful Canadian Shield. Take the Rockview Trail and take in views of the bay and the historic Brebeuf Lighthouse. The Fairy Trail is a bit longer and extends to the Cambrian Trail. The dazzling views of Fairy Lake make this trail a must-hike for nature lovers.

Travel 15-minutes to Georgian Bay Rd. off Highway 400 north of Port Severn to access the trails at McCrae Lake. You will see a variety of terrain on this hike, including forest, shield, and cliffs. The trail leads to Eagle’s Nest, a vista atop a granite cliff that provides excellent views of McCrae Lake.

This trail loop takes you throughout the Matchedash Provincial Wildlife Area. This is the largest marsh in the area and provides fantastic opportunities to spot wildlife. The trail is relatively flat but is usually muddy due to the wetlands. So, pack your bug spray and embark on this trail only 10 minutes from our resort.
