Updated: Sep 13, 2023

More than any other season, we seek comfort during winter. From binge-watching on a comfy couch, adding a third layer of clothing, or putting another log on the fire – comfort is the perfect refuge from the cold. We suggest an alternative this winter. On your Girls’ Weekend Getaway, go outside your comfort zone by going outside! Here are six activities that will get you out so you can embrace all that winter has to offer and create some unforgettable memories with your friends.

Rawley is the perfect place to experience winter travel in Ontario with your girlfriends. We are an ideal base camp for some fun winter activities. So forget hibernating, get out there and enjoy winter with your girlfriends.

Snowshoeing

Snowshoeing is a simple winter activity that allows you to conquer the snow by walking on it. The only equipment needed is snowshoes and warm winter clothing. It is easy to learn and good exercise, the perfect activity to take in the fresh air and catch up with your besties. There is an abundance of trails in and around our resort. Wye Marsh has over 25 kilometers of trails for you to enjoy, including the ‘Graham McDonald Snowshoe Trail.’ It is available exclusively in the winter months and is perfect for snowshoers.

Hit The Slopes

Just a short drive down the 400, Mount St. Louis Moonstone is one of the largest family owned ski resorts in Ontario. Their ski hills are fantastic for skiing and snowboarding, with 36 slopes, nine chairlifts, and three carpets. The resort prides itself on accommodating everyone from the beginner skier to the most advanced skier. Even if you have never hit the slopes, they have ski and snowboard instruction and rentals, with enthusiastic, patient and professional Snow Pros eager to help you.

Dog Sledding

Experience the thrill of the Arctic right in Ontario! Experience one of the great Canadian winter activities, only 15 minutes south of the resort. Mush through beautiful wilderness behind your team of dogs on a guided dog sled excursion with Windrift Kennels. They offer half and full day experiences, with warm drinks, snacks or a hot chili lunch included depending on your excursion. Dog sledding combines comfort and excitement. You can sit back and enjoy the scenery or if you want to get adventurous, learn to drive your team!

If you want to experience a sleigh ride in Muskoka, Twin Maples Farm in Severn Bridge offers horse-drawn carriage rides too.

Ice Skating Trail

Ice skating trails are one of the most popular winter activities in Ontario right now. Thankfully the ice skating trail capital is located just east of us! This fun take on one of Canada’s most quintessential winter experiences is a must-try experience in Muskoka.
